Your Smile is You
It's what people see first and remember most. If your smile is less than what you want, orthodontics may be the answer. A dazzling smile is also the sign of a healthy smile. Teeth in correct alignment are easier to clean and clean teeth are more resistant to decay and less susceptible to gum disease. Braces today are also comfortable, easy to keep clean and less noticeable than in the past.
What's the Right Age for Orthodontic Treatment?
Almost any age. New treatment techniques provide significant benefits, especially in jaw irregularities, for patients six to eleven years old and may prevent certain conditions from getting worse. Treatment during these growth stages may achieve results not possible once face and jaw bones have finished growing. Full orthodontic treatment with braces is generally begun after all permanent teeth are in place usually at ages 12 or 13, and becoming more common at later ages, with adults now making up nearly 25% of orthodontic patients.
How Treatment Works
Each individual's problem is different requiring a customized treatment plan based on a complete diagnosis of the specific case. That involves x-rays, dental impressions and photographs from which we'll make decisions about what type of appliances will bring the best results. Treatment time varies between one and three years depending on age, the severity of the case and our partnership in care - that partnership being a key ingredient. Costs, too, vary depending on the type of treatment and many insurance plans cover a portion of the fees. Orthodontic fees are more affordable than ever before and a lifetime of healthy smiles is worth the investment.
Your Initial Visit
Your initial visit is an important opportunity for us to get to know you and what you want to accomplish. We schedule it when we can give you uninterrupted time. This way, you get not only the best clinical result, you'll also be pleased with your smile. Quality care and individualized attention is the hallmark of our practice. We pride ourselves in taking the time necessary to explain your procedures each step of the way. The more you know about your care, the better the results. At your first visit, we will give you a thorough orthodontic examination. These exams are comfortable and completely painless. We'll then make a recommendation based on your specific situation, explaining how long treatment should take and the cost and payment options. We take pride in the confidence that a good looking smile brings to our patients. We hope we can do the same for you.
